PM Modi left on Tuesday (September 3) on a three-day visit to Brunei.

Brunei is home to a large number of Indians. Most Indians here are working as teachers and doctors.

About 14,500 Indians live in Brunei. Of these, 50 per cent are working in the Indian oil and gas industry.

According to the Indian High Commission, Indian doctors and teachers are highly respected in Brunei, which has a population of 450,500.

He has also been awarded the Pravasi Award in recognition of the contribution of Indians in Brunei.

Mahendra Singh is the first Indian to receive this honor.

Brunei and India have good relations. Prime Minister Modi arrived here at the invitation of Brunei's Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
