Hajj takes place in the last month of the Islamic calendar between 8th to 12th Dhul-Hijjah.
Starting on 7th Dhul-Hijjah and ending on 12th Dhul-Hijjah, the complete journey of Hajj takes place in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, over a period of five to six days.
The origin of Hajj dates back to 2000 BC when Prophet Ibrahim (AS), on Allah SWT’s command, left his only son Prophet Ismail (AS) and wife Hazrat Hajra (RA) in the middle of the desert
To perform Hajj the men and women are dressed in white, men wear Ihram and women cover themselves from head to toe leaving the face out.
During the hajj, the pilgrim drinks water from the Zamzam well, which is situated at the east of Kabbah. The water spring that came out for Hazrat Ismail, who was dying of thirst.
After all the rituals are performed, the feast of sacrifice marks the end of the hajj, by sacrificing animals that are a Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim. Muslims all over the world pays tribute to Prophet Ibrahim AS and his deed of sacrificing His son Prophet Ismail for the sake of Allah.
