On the day oif Eid-e-Milad un Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, people turned emotional on seeing the Moi-e-Muqaddas, holy relic of the founder of Islam, in Srinagar Hazratbal shrine.
The relic, called Moi-e-Muqaddas, was shown by its custodian from the first floor of the building to the congregation.

Men and women in large numbers thronged the shrine on the bank of the Dal lake for prayers and especially for deedar’ of the relic.
The relic is a stand of Prophet Muhammad’s hair that was brought to India by one of his close followers and later it found its way into the hands of a wealthy Kashmiri trader Khwaja Nooruddin Ishbari.
Faces full of emotions and devotion during the deedar
The relic is shown to public by its custodian – the Bandeys- the descendents of the daughter of Ishbari on rare occasions like Eid-e Milad un Nabi, Meraj-e-Alam and Urs of four Caliphs.

People were all the more anxious to have a deedar of the Holy relic since it was being displayed after a gap of two years due to the Covid-induced restrictions.
