Kashmir's Tajamul Lone among 7 Indian teachers selected for Fullbright programme

Tajamul Naseem Lone, a higher secondary school teacher from Baramulla district of North Kashmir,is among seven tteachers selected from across India for the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program of the USA

In this scholarship Lone will gain professional teaching experience at an American university for six weeks.
He will work with international teachers to gain in-depth knowledge of teaching methods, student-centered pedagogy and instructional techniques.

Lone, who hails from Dangiwacha in Rafiabad, attributes his success to the support he received from Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Dangiwacha and the guidance of Fulbright alumnus Rameez Sudan.

Lone, 38, is the among seven teachers selected from across India, for the programme that places special emphasis on promoting global educational exchange.
Lone holds an M Phill in Zoology from Bundelkhand University and Bachelor of Education from the University of Kashmir.

He is currently working toward a master's degree in environmental science. His career in education spans nine years, including serving as an ALOHA administrator and course instructor.

The Indian teachers have made it to this prestigious scholarship from among 3,200 applicants from 65 countries.

The program will focus on issues such as gender equity in teaching, media literacy and environmental education, as well as provide field experiences with U.S. partner teachers.

Jennifer Gibson, Branch Chief of the Teacher Exchange Branch, congratulated Lone on his achievement, saying, "This award symbolizes the Fulbright Program's mission to promote mutual understanding and global education."

Earlier Shaista Shakeel, another teacher from Baramulla was selected for the same program in 2023.
