Holi, also known as the Spring Festival, signifies the arrival of spring and the harvest season. The festival is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. The celebrations begin with Holika Dahan, where a bonfire is lit to mark the demise of Holika, a symbol of evil.
The mythology traces back to the legend of Prahlad, a devout follower of Lord Vishnu, who survived the attempts of his father, Demon King Hiranyakashyapu, and his aunt Holika to kill him. The burning of Holika and Prahlad’s survival symbolize the victory of righteousness and faith over evil.
