Dr Muhammed Abdul Hakkim Azhari, Imam and Khatib of Jamiul Futuh mosque of the Markaz Knowledge City in Calicut, Kerala, has cautioned against the growing insecurity among minorities in Bangladesh as it poses serious regional challenges, with potential ripple effects across India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nepal.
In a statement, Dr Muhammed Abdul Hakkim Azhari said Bangladesh must ensure the safety and security of its minority communities in every sense.
“The arrest of Vaishnav monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh on November 25 has triggered widespread protests, creating unrest and further endangering minority communities.
“The growing insecurity among minorities poses serious regional challenges, with potential ripple effects across India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nepal.
“It is the responsibility of Bangladesh interim Government to take proactive steps to restore peace, curb communal discord, and ensure the safety and rights of all communities.”
He posted his statement on X and tagged the UN Human Rights Council and Minority rights groups:

He further asked the stakeholders to “exercise restraint and avoid actions that exacerbate tensions.”
He asked the international community, including India to extend diplomatic support and encourage constructive dialogue to address these issues.”

“Protecting minority communities and fostering harmony is crucial to ensuring stability in the region,” he said.
