After 27 years, the BJP is all set to rule the national capital Delhi as the party won 40 seats and is leading in 8 more crossing the half way mark of 36 in the 70-member Delhi legislative Assembly - and inflicted a crushing defeat to the Aam Admi Party.

AAP has so far won 18 and is leading on four seats as the counting of votes is still going on at the time of filing. The defeat for AAP turned into a harsher reality as its stalwarts like Kejriwal, and Manish Sisodia faced defeat from the BJP rivals in their respective constituencies.

AAP Chief Minister Atishi won from her Kalkaji seat, beating BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri by over 3.5 thousand votes.

BJP leader Parvesh Sahib Singh defeated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi Assembly seat by over 4 thousand votes. Meanwhile Congress Sandeep Dikshit had a dismal performance by only getting 4,568 votes.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders Kapil Mishra (Karawal Nagar) won against AAP's Manoj Kumar Tyagi. BJP's Shikha Roy (Greater Kailash) defeated AAP's Saurabh Bharadwaj with a margin of over 3 thousand votes.

BJP candidate Kulwant Rana also won from the Rithala constituency, beating AAP's Mohinder Goyal by a comfortable margin of over 29 thousand votes.

As the BJP went into a celebration mood over trouncing the AAP and decimating the Congress party in the crucial elections which failed to win even a single seat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep gratitude to the people of Delhi for the BJP’s decisive victory and asserted that his government will spare no effort in enhancing the quality of life for the city's residents.

Taking to social media platform X on Saturday, the Prime Minister hailed the party workers for their relentless efforts in securing this triumph.

“I am so proud of each and every BJP karyakarta who has worked tirelessly, leading to this outstanding result. We will work even more vigorously and serve the wonderful people of Delhi,” PM Modi said.

Emphasising the power of the people’s mandate, PM Modi stated, “Jana Shakti is paramount! Development wins, good governance triumphs. I bow to my dear sisters and brothers of Delhi for this resounding and historic mandate to BJP. We are humbled and honoured to receive these blessings.”

Reiterating his commitment to transforming the national Capital, he added, “It is our guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned in developing Delhi, improving the overall quality of life for its people, and ensuring that the city plays a pivotal role in building a Viksit Bharat.”

The BJP’s landslide victory has been seen as a strong endorsement of the party’s governance model, policies, and leadership, with PM Modi's popularity continuing to be a driving force in electoral success.

Arvind Kejriwal lost the New Delhi assembly seat to BJP's Parvesh Verma by a margin of 4089 votes.

The EC data shows that the BJP candidate got 30,088 votes, whereas the AAP chief got 25,999 votes while Congress' Sandeep Dikshit, also contesting from the same seat, showed a dismal performance, getting only 4568 votes.

Earlier today, Kejriwal conceded his defeat and hoped that the BJP will fulfill all the promises.

"We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory and I hope they will fulfil all the promises for which people have voted for them," Kejriwal said in a video address posted on X.
