Muslims across India will celebrate the festival of Eid-ul Fitr on Monday, March 31.
The Eid moon has been sighted in Lucknow. Khalid Rashid Farangi, President of Eidgah Imam Markazi Chand Committee, has announced that the Eid moon has been sighted today and Eid will be celebrated tomorrow on 31 March.
Earlier, the Eid moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia on 29 March.
As the festival of Eid approached, heavy crowds were seen in the markets. Shoppers thronged readymade clothes and shoe shops, which boosted business. At the same time, in view of the last days of Ramzan, the police administration has made strict security arrangements in markets and temples to ensure the safety of the people.
Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, President of All India Muslim Jamaat, has made a special appeal to the Imams of Eidgah and Mosque. He has said that on the occasion of Eid, Namaaz should not be read on roads and squares.
He said that on the occasion of Eid, children, elderly and youth come to offer Namaaz. Due to this, if there is shortage of space, then people start offering Namaaz on the road.
Namaaz should not be offered on the road. One way of this is to change the shifts when the crowd of Namazis increases. It is not necessary that Namaaz should be offered in one shift only. Namaaz can be offered in one shift, two shifts or three shifts also.
He said that this is allowed in Shariat. This arrangement can be made by changing the Imam. Maulana said that this has many benefits. Ambulances going on the road will not face any problem. People coming and going on the road will not face any problem. There will be no traffic jam. Daily routine will continue smoothly. No one will face any problem. Here, Namaaz will also be performed properly. Islam is a religion of generosity. It talks about adopting humanity. A good Muslim is one whose hands and feet do not harm anyone.
Maulana also hit back at the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He opposed the announcement of offering namaz by tying a black band during Eid namaz.
He said that Eid is a festival of happiness. “Tying a black band means that we are mourning. Eid should be celebrated as a festival of happiness. It is not right to celebrate it as a festival of sorrow.”
