Councilor Akbar Pathan and many residents of the Muslim-dominated M D Road locality accord a rousing welcome to a religious procession on the occasion of Ganesh Janmotsav, in the Pink City of Jaipur, Rajasthan

The procession took off from the Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple as the Idol installed for the festival was taken out for visarjan (ceremonial immersion) after being taken around the city.

The nine-day Ganesh Janmotsav at Moti Dungri Ganeshji Temple concluded.

The colourful procession has an elephant leading the procession and it was followed by various tableaux. During this, Adarsh ​​Nagar Assembly Councilor Akbar Pathan said, "Jaipur has always been a symbol of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb.”

“It is a matter of pride for us that we got the opportunity to welcome this procession. Our religion Islam also teaches us to respect other religions."

On this occasion, many dignitaries of the Muslim community including Adarsh ​​Nagar Assembly MLA Rafiq Khan were also present.

Local Muslims seeing the Shobha Yatra

At 5 pm, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar performed aarti of Lord Ganesha on the temple premises. This year's tableau also included the Vande Bharat train, which showed gods and goddesses riding it.

The golden idol of Lord Ganesha was placed on the chariot and the procession passed through the main markets of the city, including places like Sanganeri Gate, Johri Bazaar, Badi Chaupad, Tripolia Bazaar, Chhoti Chaupad, Gangauri Bazaar and Brahmapuri. Finally, the procession reached the Garh Ganesh temple and was immersed.

During the yatra, traffic diversion was done on many roads of the city. To monitor law and order, many senior police officers including Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph were present on the spot and were monitoring the yatra.
