The country's first Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat who died in a helicopter crash along with his wife and 11 others has left behind two daughters.
Not only the country has suffered a major setback due to the loss of this supreme army officer, but this catastrophy has bereft the daughters of their parents as well.
The duo along with 12 others were enroute Wellington to attend an event.
Madhulika Rawat was the President of the Army Women Welfare Association and thus had to participate in the program organized in Wellington.
This is the reason that instead of living in Delhi after retirement, he had prepared to settle in Dehradun, where he had spent his entire childhood.
For this, he had also started building his home in beautiful plains amidst the forests near Premnagar in Dehradun a month ago.
At present, the foundation of this house was being prepared with the help of earthquake resistant technology.
His alma matter consists of Cambrian Hall School in Dehradun, St. Edward's School in Shimla and finally Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun.
Here he topped his batch and for this he was given the 'Sword of Honour'.
