Business and political leaders across India mourned the loss of Ratan Tata, former chairman of the Tata Group, who passed away at the age of 86. Tata, a towering figure in Indian industry, was in intensive care at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where he breathed his last.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief, calling Tata a "visionary business leader" and a "compassionate soul." In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi praised Tata's stable leadership of one of India’s oldest business houses and highlighted his contributions beyond the boardroom.

Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Sundar Pichai, Uday Kotak, and other prominent business figures also shared their condolences. Adani described Tata as a "giant" who redefined modern India’s path.

Anand Mahindra expressed disbelief over Tata’s passing, noting that Tata's work played a significant role in India’s economic rise. Kumar Mangalam Birla praised Tata's influence in both business and societal progress, calling him a model for ethical leadership.

Political leaders including President Droupadi Murmu, Rahul Gandhi, Nitin Gadkari, and Amit Shah also paid tribute. In honor of Tata, Airbus India canceled its event scheduled for today.

Ratan Tata’s leadership transformed the Tata Group into a global conglomerate, with major acquisitions like Tetley, Corus Steel, and Jaguar Land Rover. His vision also led to the creation of the Tata Nano, the world’s most affordable car.
