As India completes 75 years of Independence on August 15, the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly children, are organizing rallies, waving Tiranga and are enthusiastically waiting to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

As part of the campaign, J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Saturday led the Tiranga Yatra in Poonch. She was accompanied by BJP leaders and functionaries as the Yatra passed through the lanes and by-lanes in Poonch town amid sloganeering by the activists and the local residents. “In post 370 J&K, now Tiranga is becoming a phenomenon here.

Dr Andrabi addressed the Madrasa chilren and posted this video on Twitter:

This change is a tribute to all those who fought a long battle to free J&K from separatist bonds after decades of the country's independence. J&K is no longer ruled by families but by the constitution & represented not by looters but by the national flag”, said Dr Andrabi on the occasion.

Andrabi later attended the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ function organized by the Madrasa Faizan-ul-Awlia run by J&K Waqf Board. “I am happy to see the Madrasa campus decorated with hundreds of national flags. It was thrilling to see the function starting with the national anthem and concluding with the national song ‘Sare Jahan Se achha,” said Andrabi.

She said that in the changing times, Madrasas in J&K have to undergo huge transformation. “In addition to religious education, we need to equip the students enrolled here with scientific and modern knowledge and make them learn many languages so that they become productive & successful contributing citizens of our country,” said Waqf Board Chairperson.

She posted some more pictures of her interaction with students and clerics in Poonch on twitter:

Darakhshan Andrabi thanked the Ulema, teachers & management staff for giving a broader outlook to the Madrasa inmates. She said that all Madrasas in J&K will be transformed and updated to make these more relevant to the present times. Dr Andrabi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rightly said that the students of these institutions need Quran in one hand and computer in another hand.

She interacted with the students and convinced them to be ready to learn modern education and English and Hindi in addition to the religious education at the same time.
