The holy month of Ramzan during which Muslims fast for 30 days begins on Wednesday for majority of the Indian Muslims. In Kerala, however, Ramzan started on Tuesday.
The Marakji Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee in Bengaluru announced this on Monday as the moon was not sighted on that day. In kerala however, the designate authorities announced the sighting of the moon and Muslims started observing the Ramzan from Tuesday.
Its statement said, "The moon of Ramadan was not seen in other districts like Bengaluru, Belgaum, Hubli and Mysuru," said the Markazi Rut-e-Hilal committee. , Allahabad and other places also, so the clergy decided unanimously that the first day of Ramadan would be on Wednesday. ''
Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and people of the Muslim community around the world fast during this month. It is considered as a month of fasting and prayer.
Muslims are ordained to feed the poor and do charitable works alongside mandatory dawn to dust strict fasting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people on the occasion of Ramzan on Twitter. He wrote:

Minister of external affairs S Jaishankar also greeted Muslims on the occasion. He conveyed his wishes to all those observing the Holy Month of fasting a blessed, peaceful and healthy period.
