“Post Yoga selfies in Srinagar! Unparalleled vibrancy here, at the Dal Lake,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi as young Kashmiris who had come to attend the Yoga session with Prime Miniter on the 10th International Yoga Day mobbed him to have selfie inside the convention center on the banks of Dal Lake.
Prime Minister looked happy and the young men and women were excited at the chance to strike a pose that was shared as the most viewed picture of Modi’s first Kashmir visit in his third term. The trend Kashmir selfie with PM was trending on X.

He said, "International Yoga Day has completed a historic journey of 10 years. In 2014, I proposed International Yoga Day in the United Nations. This proposal of India was supported by 177 countries and this was a record in itself. Since then, Yoga Day has been creating new records,"
Emphasizing the importance of Yoga and its health benefits, the Prime Minister also said, "Yoga is for self and society." "On the occasion of the 10th International Yoga Day, I urge everyone to make Yoga a part of their daily lives," he added.
Praising Srinagar, the Prime Minister also said, "I am happy to have had the opportunity to visit the land of 'Yoga' and 'Sadhana'. In Srinagar, we can feel the 'Shakti' that Yoga gives." The Prime Minister said, "Yoga promotes strength, good health and fitness. It is wonderful to be a part of this year's event in Srinagar."
The Prime Minister said, "This year a 101-year-old female yoga teacher in India was awarded the Padma Shri. She never came to India, but she dedicated her entire life to creating awareness about yoga. Today, research on yoga is being done in prestigious universities and institutions across the world, research papers are being published."

The Prime Minister's speech came ahead of Yoga Day celebrations in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, where millions of people from across the world performed yoga on the occasion. The event was scheduled to begin at 6.30 am at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) on the banks of Dal Lake but was disrupted due to heavy rains in the city.

Over 7,000 people from different walks of life will gather with the Prime Minister on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar on this special occasion. Since 2015, the Prime Minister has led International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations at various iconic locations including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysore, and even at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
