New Delhi
A Delhi Court on Friday granted bail to Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair in a case related to an "objectionable tweet" he made in 2018 which allegedly promoted enmity between religious groups.
Zubair was granted bail on the condition of furnishing a bond of Rs 50,000 with one surety of the same amount.
He was also directed not to leave the country without the permission of the Court.
The Court on July 2 rejected his bail plea and sent him to 14-day custody of the Delhi Police.
The Delhi High Court had earlier issued a notice to the Delhi Police on a plea moved by Zubair challenging the Patiala House Courts' order allowing his police custody and seizure of his laptop in connection with the alleged objectionable tweet.
He is also facing charges in six different courts in Uttar Pradesh.
