Pak using drones for arms, cash supplies to LeT in J&K

New Delhi

Pakistan is using drones to airdrop arms and ammunition in the Jammu region to boost violence In Jammu and Kashmir at a time when preparations for holding the first ever elections since the abrogation of the special status of the erstwhile State and its bifurcation into two union territories are going apace.

All these drones are coming from the international border and dropping consignments in Jammu, Samba, Kathua across the border and LOC in Rajouri.

This came to light when the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested seven Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operatives who had received 20 consignments of arms, ammunition, and explosives across the border through drones.

The recoveries included a large number of arms and explosives including AK rifles, pistols, remote control IEDs, sticky bombs, silenced pistols, and cash – all ferried by drones. More seizures are expected in the coming days.

Additional DGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh told media persons that “the recovery of silencer pistols from the possession of arrested militants revealed that they were also planning targeted killings.”

Investigations have revealed that each drone flight also carried genuine Indian currency – Rs 80,000 to one lakh. So far 20 drones had dropped Rs 25 lakh cash of which the police have recovered Rs 5 lakh so far.

Police have unearthed a hideout used by terrorists in the Jammu house of one of the terrorists the entry to which was through an almirah. Arms and explosives were recovered from there.

All the terrorists were being controlled by Lashkar-e-toiba’s Pakistan-based Bashir Sajjad who originally hailed from Doda in the Jammu region.
