People who walk path of violence will be defeated: Dr. Al-Issa

In his most awaited message, the visiting Islamic scholar Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim al Issa, Secretary General, Muslim World League, today said from the pulpit of Jama Masjid in Delhi that Islam has no place for extremism and people who tread the path of violence will be defeated.

Delivering Friday sermons at the Friday congregational prayers at the Mughal era grand mosque located in the old city of City, Dr. Al-Issa spoke about Islam and the responsibilities of Muslims.

Syed Imam Ahmed Bukhari, Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid welcomed Sheikh Mohammad Abdulkarim al Issa.

Dr. Issa led the prayers and delivered the Khutba (sermon). On Wednesday, he visited Akshardham Temple and during his India visit he is meeting diverse sections of India's religious and spiritual leadership

He said Islam doesn’t like double-speak and that Muslims should be truthful.

Speaking in the Arabic language and communicating through a translator, Dr Al-Issa said, Islam gives great importance to good character. He asked Muslims to be kind to everyone.

He said Islam teaches “us to take care of our neighbours and have respect for humanity.

Islam, he said, believes in protecting humanity, respecting geography and diversity.

A true believer must be kind-hearted and walk on a straight path.

Dr. Al-Issa is recognized as a face of the changing and moderate Islam. As minister of Justice in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Issa changed the harsh laws of the Kingdom in favour of women and families.

He had been spearheading a global movement for dialogue among religions and is credited with visiting the holocaust Museum to recognize the atrocities on Jews.

Also, Dr Al-Issa, who began his six-day journey to India on July 10 has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu and religious leaders and civil society members.

In his public discourse, Dr. Issa has been explaining how Islam is not a rigid religious creed and it respects diversity and other religions.
