Muslim scholars said that in today’s environment the responsibility of the Muslim community to work on bringing about harmony with their compatriots has increased manifold.

They said this can be easily done by following the Holy Quran. This was said by most of the speakers at the Quran Conference in Delhi recently. The speakers said the current issues being faced by Muslims are because they are not following the teachings of the Quran. The Muslims are living lives without following the path laid by the Prophet of Islam.

We should read Quran like a book and make notes on it, people read Quran, but there is no change in their character. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tariq Nadvi said that we do read Quran, but do not understand its meaning. This is the reason they remain ignorant of the real spirit of Islam.

He asked people to read Quran and understand its meaning. Small children are made to cram the Quran in their childhood without understanding its meaning and message. Dr. Adil Ahmed said that it is very easy to understand and read Quran, but we have made it sound difficult. Speaking on the language and delivery of the Quran, he said “we should first read the translation of the Quran.”

On the other hand, Dr. Sameena Kausar, Assistant Professor, Department of Arabic, Maulana Azad Urdu University, said that Quran is meant for humanity. It has codified the rights of women. However, all this is lost because we only read Quran and don’t pay attention to its message.

“Women have been given equal status in the Quran. But society has ignored it. We should follow Quran, it has solutions to all the problems of the world,” she said. The coordinator of the program Dr. Aslam Parvez said that children should not be asked to cram the Quranic texts at home.

It is something like doing some work without applying one’s mind. The Quran has many useful tips for young children, but not many value them. Before that, however, grownups have to understand the Quran and follow it.

“If parents do not give time to children, then it means that we are living like animals,” she said. He told the audience in strict words that Quran is not just for show off, but one has to walk on it.

“When anyone opens the Quran, he comes to know the truth of life. If you do justice to the Quran, then there will be a change in the society and peace and prosperity in the country.” Dr. Aslam Parvez said that since 2011, the message of the Quran on peace, love, and brotherhood as a way of life, is being conveyed to the people. If the message of the Quran is spread among different religions, peace will spread in the country and brotherhood will become a reality.
