In Kerala's Wayanad district, search and rescue operations entered their fifth day on Saturday following massive landslides that struck on July 30. recovery efforts in Himachal Pradesh are underway after a cloudburst on the night of July 31-August 1 caused severe flash floods across Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts.
The death toll has reached 308, according to Kerala Health Minister Veena George. Relief teams, including the Indian Army, are actively working in six designated zones, with ongoing support from local volunteers, dog squads, and advanced radar systems being airlifted from Delhi. As the Army constructs a bridge in Punchirimattom for heavy machinery, aerial surveys are being conducted to assess the full impact of the disaster.

As of Saturday, in Himachal Pradesh, six bodies have been recovered and 53 people remain missing. Over sixty homes were washed away, and significant damage has been reported, particularly in Kullu. The NDRF and SDRF are working to rescue those stranded, while restoration efforts are underway for damaged infrastructure. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has called for immediate restoration of critical water supply projects affected by the floods.
