Veteran actor Shabana Azmi on Monday said it was wrong to seek a ban on the film The Kerala Story which had been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
He said nobody should act as an "extra-constitutional" authority.
Her tweet comes a day after the Tamil Nadu Multiplex Association announced its decision to stop screening the film in the state amid some protests and low audience turnout.
Shabana Azmi took to Twitter and said that calling for a ban on The Kerala Story is no different from the boycott calls that were made during the release of Aamir Khan's Lal Singh Chadha last year.
Those who speak of banning #The Kerala Story are as wrong as those who wanted to ban Aamir Khan’s #Laal Singh Chaadha. Once a film has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification nobody has the right to become an extra constitutional authority .
