While people all over the world welcomed the New Year with festivities,  a small yet vivid celebration at Srinagar city’s new peoples’ center – Lal Chowk – stood out for the message it delivered about the changing Kashmir.

Local singers performed at the venue to the delight of the youth and the tourists alike. People migled around singing and dancing and lighting fire crackers to welcome 2025.

A special Ganga Aarti was performed on the Assi Ghat of Varanasi, the world’s oldest living city to usher in the new year as tourists thronged the holy city.
