New Delhi
Anjali Singh, the victim of the infamous hit-and-run case in Kanjhawala case on New year's day in Delhi was the breadwinner of her family. Besides the grief of losing Anjali most brutally, the family was also left to cope with financial problems and her mother’s ill health.
It was an undisclosed amount given by the Meer Foundation that has given a little relief to Anjali’s family. The foundation is also taking care of the expenses of the healthcare of Anjali’s mother.
The Meer Foundation is set up by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in memory of his father Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, who died when SRK and his sister were young.
The 20-year-old Anjali Singh was returning home from work on her scooter when a car hit her vehicle. Her body was dragged under the vehicle for over 7 km.
A statement issued by the Meer Foundation stated that it has helped Anjali’s family by giving them an undisclosed sum.
SRK’s NGO said it is trying to help Anjali’s family, especially the mother, with their health issues while providing adequate relief to Anjali's siblings.

Meer Foundation is a charitable organization founded in 2013 to drive change at the grassroots level and works to create a world empowered by women. It has been assisting underprivileged women and children and especially victims of acid attacks.
In his message on the foundation's website, Shahrukh Khan says- "Many people have helped me in my life, due to which I have reached this stage today. That is why I want to do something for people, especially women.”
SRK’s mission statement is: “My dream is to create an environment for women where they can forget their past and realize their future. Perhaps this is a bit too idealistic thinking, but I believe that if we all unite then we will succeed in empowering women.
“It is not impossible to create a safe, happy and satisfying environment for them. The sad thing is that in reality, women do not get much freedom. They are often made to feel that they are failures and due to this many restrictions are imposed on them.
“Even they are punished for saying no. Why all this because no one can respect him from the heart. I cannot tolerate this, rather I believe that women's rights should be given to them at every turn and due to this thinking, I am taking steps toward empowering them.

“Especially about horrific acts like acid attacks, I believe that when women are oppressed, they need a friend on whom they can trust and who can give them the strength to face the challenges ahead.”
The Meer website says that a society based on the principles of equality has to be created, that fearlessly empowers women and allows them to live freely. We have to build a society based on the principles of equality, which fearlessly empowers women and makes them feel independent.
According to the Foundation, we must protect and empower women, foster humility and valor in men, and foster the bravery and optimism that resides within all of us.
