Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub Inspector Arshad Meer who died in a terrorist attack in Srinagar was buried at Eid-Gah Kalmoona. Handwara.
His funeral was attented by thousands of Kashmiris. A post by the fellow journalist describing the same was shared on facebook.
Earlier, the incident was captured by the CCTV camera footage and released by the police and journalists shared the same on twitter.

The official handle of LG J&K shared a post on twitter condemning the heinous act and has promised due justice.
I strongly condemn brutal killing of our braveheart Police Officer Arshad Ashraf Mir by terrorists. This is a handiwork of enemies of humanity & peace. His supreme sacrifice won't go in vain, terrorists will be punished for the act. Heartfelt condolences to the martyr's family.

To pay due condolences a wreath laying ceremony for the martyr was held at District Police Lines Srinagar.
The funeral was attented by Spl. DG CID J&K Shri R. R Swain, Spl. DG Crime J&K Shri A. K Choudhary, ADGsP, J&K, Shri S. J. M. Gillani, Shri A. G Mir, Div Com Kashmir, Shri P.K Pole, DIG Central Kashmir Shri Amit Kumar,DIG CRPF Sh RK Rana,DIG SSB Sh Ranjit Singh, DC Srinagar, Shri Mohammad Aijaz,SSP Srinagar and other senior officers of J&K police, CAPF and civil administration, parents and close relatives of the martyr were present at the wreath laying ceremony.
The DGP, J&K while speaking to the media said that the SI was a brave and young officer who was at the threshold of the service and was deployed for medical checkup of an accused to a hospital and was attacked by the terrorists while returning. He was critically injured and was immediately taken to S.M.H.S hospital in the city from where he was referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment but in the end he breathed his last.
Considering the martyrdom of the Arshad Meer a tragic loss for JK police, the DGP extended his condolence to the bereaved family.

The DGP said that every life lost is cause of concern for us and added that terrorists involved in the attack have been identified and follow up operation has been launched adding that perpetrators of the criminal act would be brought to justice soon.
