In the UPSC Civil Services 2024 results announced on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 26 Muslim candidates are among the 1,009 successful candidates who secured top ranks.

However, no Muslim candidate made it to the top 25 list. The only exceptions are Iram Chaudhary and Farkhanda Qureshi, who have found a place in the top 100 of the merit list.

In total, 97 Muslim candidates had qualified for the UPSC Civil Services Main Exam 2024 and were invited for the personality test (interviews) held between January 7 and April 17, 2025.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2024 today, based on the written exams held in September 2024 and the personality tests conducted from January to April 2025.

UPSC Civil Services Toppers

Shakti Dubey secured the top rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam. Harshita Goyal ranked second, and Dongre Archit Parag secured third place.

According to Rules 20(4) and (5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules, 2024, a consolidated reserve list of 230 candidates has also been maintained.

The Civil Services Main Examination 2024 was conducted from September 20 to 29, 2024. According to the main result declared on December 9, 2024, approximately 2,845 candidates qualified the written test and were called for the interview round.

Out of the 1,009 selected candidates, 335 are from the General category, 109 from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 318 from Other Backward Classes (OBC), 160 from Scheduled Castes (SC), and 87 from Scheduled Tribes (ST). Among these, 45 candidates are persons with benchmark disabilities across four categories.

The preliminary stage of the 2024 Civil Services Exam will conclude on June 16, with 992,599 candidates registered and 583,213 actually appearing for the exam.

UPSC 2023 CSE Result Summary

In 2023, the UPSC conducted the personality test in three phases:

  • Phase I on February 16,
  • Phase II from February 19 to March 15,
  • Phase III concluded on April 9, 2024.

The final result of UPSC CSE 2023 was announced on April 16, 2024.
Notable toppers from 2023 included Aditya Srivastava (1st), Animesh Pradhan (2nd), Donuru Ananya Reddy, Ruhani, Naushin, and others, with over 50 Muslim candidates listed in the final selection.

In 2024, 97 Muslims qualified, reflecting a consistent yet modest representation of the minority community in the final merit list.

  • 2023: 51 Muslim candidates recommended out of 1,016 total
  • 2022: 30 Muslims among 933 selected
  • 2021: 21 Muslims among 685 total
  • 2020: 31 Muslims among 761
  • 2019–2015: Muslim representation ranged between 30 to 52 candidates each year
  • 2010: Dr. Shah Faesal from Kashmir topped the exam
