All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council has endorsed the statement of Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman she made in the USA that Indian Muslims are making progress and their population in India is growing.

Speaking at the Peterson International Institute of Economics in Washington DC, Sithraman said Indian Muslims are the “second largest Muslim population in the world; they are making progress, doing their business and their children are getting scholarships to study.”

Reacting to this, Syed Naseeruddin Chishty, Chairperson of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, and Spiritual Head and Hereditary Sajjadanashin of Ajmer Dargah said Nirmalal Sithraman has reflected the views of all the Muslims of India.

Recent instances in many countries have practically shown that Muslims in India are much better than all the Non Arab countries of the World, he said.

Naseeruddin Chisty Tweeted:

The finance minister who is in the US for the annual spring meeting of the IMF and World Bank, invited media and investors from the US to India to see the ground realities of the condition of Indian Muslims.

Rebutting the remarks that Indian Muslims were being targeted, she said “The perception that the Muslims in India are being targeted is not supported by facts."

India has the second largest Muslim population in the world, and the population is only growing. “If this in a perception or a reality that their lives are difficult or made difficult with the support of the State then will this happen that Muslims population in India has been growing since 1947.”

Making a comparison with Pakistan that, she said, came into being at the time of the partition of India, Sithraman said each religious minority in Pakistan has been dwindling in numbers. “Even some of the Muslims sects have been decimated. There is violence against Mohajir, Shia and others who are not accepted by the mainstream Muslims while in India every strand of Mulims are doing their business, their children are getting educated, government is giving fellowships to them.”
