New Delhi

Malala Yusufzai, nobel laureate, who was shot in her head by terrorists in her home in Swat Valley of Pakistan for promoting girls’ education and had been living in the UK since, has got married.

She announced her wedding on social media.

“Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead,” Malala wrote on instagram and Facebook and posted beautiful pictures of the Nikah ceremony.

Her husband is Asser Malik, the general manager of the Pakistan Cricket Control Board's High Performance Centre.

Malala wrote:

Malala was shot by a Taliban terrorist while she was travelling in a bus in her home town in 2012. She was just 11 years old.

Celebrities from world over have  sent congratulations to Malala for her wedding.

It may be mentioned that Malala has undergone several surgeries – the recent one  after the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban about which she wrote on social media.

She was shot by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the group that is sought to be recognized and mainstreamed by Pakistan government.

Malala has been studying in the USA.

She has been featured on the cover of several Magazine in the West. She has also written a book on her life and a biopic is made on her life.

She is a global celebrity though, in Pakistan, media plays down her achievements.
