Islamic scholar Majeed Parekh says Prophet Muhammad gave the message of peace to the world and his job as a messenger was not (religious) conversion.”

He told Awaz-the Voice that his orfganisation -The International Human Rights Organization - is working on the path shown by the Holy Quran. He regrets that Muslims have limited the Quran  to reading ritual; they don’t follow the path it shows them.”

He said this was a key reason for the growth of ‘Islamophobia’ across the woprld.

“Quran is the only book that talks about equality and women's rights, but we have not conveyed this to the people, because we are Muslims in name and live not by the book but vby our free will,” Parekh said.

He recently addressed the "Quran Conference" program organized in New Delhi.

Majeed Parekh said that Prophet Muhammad ‘s life was full of distress and pain as he was forced to migrate for 13 years and yet he never cursed his enemies and finally it led to a revolution in 23 years

Majeed Parekh said the Quran never comes in the way of human relations. The Holy give gives freedom of religion, but, we the humans don’t even want to give freedom of opinion to each other. “This is the problem and it comes from we don’t understanding the Quran.”

Addressing the Muslims, he said that the word Hijrat (migrantion) needs to be understood in its myriad meanings.

Muslims, he said, become emotional at the drop of the hat. They should remember the time of the prophet when he was thrown out of the city. The answer to abuse is not abuse.

Majeed Parekh said that Muslims need to ponder if they are Muslims only for the heck of it or they do follow the path shown by Allah and His Messenger.

“We can achieve true happiness only by following the path shown by the Quran and make a better society.
