Syed Naseeruddin Chishti, successor and spiritual head of the Dargah of Sufi Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer, Rajasthan, has dismissed the claims that one of the most revered dargahs is on the land of a temple.

He claimed that the civil suit filed in the court was based on “false facts and fabricated history.”

“If we look at history, no objection has been raised at any time regarding Dargah Khwaja Saheb. From Mughals to Khilji Tughlaq, Hindu kings, Rajput kings, and even Marathas have shown great respect for the Dargah.”

In a statement released to the press, Chishti said, “Even many great personalities of Sanatan Dharma have expressed their great respect towards the Dargah of Khwaja Saheb. The entire history cannot be erased based on just one book which was published in 1911.”

He alleged that the suit filed by "Hindu Sena" is a manifestation of the harsh reality of religious fanaticism prevailing in the country.

He urged intellectuals and responsible members of civil society that they must speak on this issue. He pointed out that not only the Prime Minister of the country but other leaders also offer a chaddar at the dargah to show their reverence to the Sufi saint.
