Delhi-based Islamic scholar Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan has released his a book of English translation of the Holy Quran. Through this, he seeks to introduce the Muslims' holy book to all.

The book was launched at the Indian Islamic Cultural Center on February 11. Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Zafarul Islam said, "English has become the most widely spoken and understood language in the world, but the English translations available so far are in a complex language style at many places, which makes it difficult for readers to understand the meaning. This new translation has been prepared to keep this need in mind."

Dr. Khan said he has used authentic and primary Arabic sources for the translation to present the original message simply and avoid philosophical, jurisprudential, or linguistic jargon.

He believes that the teachings of Islam should be easy to understand so that this knowledge is not limited to Muslims only but also reaches people of other religions.

Zafarul Islam Khan said he decided on the project while he was on the Haj pilgrimage with his wife in 2010. "I took a vow in the Masjid-e-Haram that he would not delay this task any longer, " he said.

After returning from the Hajj pilgrimage, he started working on the translation in January 2011.

Islamic scholars and academics praised Dr Khan's work. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Vice President Prof. Salim Engineer said that this translation is in a very simple language, which will not require a dictionary to understand. In this, answers to the main questions asked about the Quran have been given in detail.

Rampur MP Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi called it a very painstaking and authentic effort, which will benefit millions of people. Professor Abdul Majeed Qazi of the Arabic Department of Jamia Millia Islamia, underlining the historical importance of this translation, said that after reading it completely, he found it extremely beautiful and excellent.

He said that it is difficult to retain the original message of any book while translating it, but Dr. Khan has successfully met this challenge.

Professor Mohammad Qutubuddin of the Arabic Department of JNU said that this translation is not only religiously important, but it also clarifies topics like hijab, rights of dhimmis, modern migration, and issues of minorities.

Dr. Waris Mazhari of the Islamic Studies Department of Jamia Hamdard described this translation as simple, comprehensive, and accessible. He said that this work of Dr. Khan is an important contribution to the field of Islamic studies.

Dr. Khan is a renowned Islamic scholar, writer and translator. He received education from the prestigious Al-Azhar University and Cairo University of Egypt and obtained a PhD from the University of Manchester, UK. He has so far compiled and translated more than 50 books in Arabic, English, and Urdu.
