Indian Muslim bodies condemn violence against Hindus in Bangladesh

New Delhi

Several Muslim organizations have condemned the anti-Hindu violence in Bangladesh and asked the Indian government to be firm with Dhaka in curbing the riots.

Dr. Khwaja Iftikhar Ahmed, President, of Inter Faith Harmony Foundation of India, has condemned the violence being perpetrated on the Hindus in Bangladesh.  

In a statement released to the media, he said, “The killing of innocent Hindu minority members for no fault of them speaks low morality, the collapse of the attributes of sobriety.”

‘Recent news of attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh is not only condemnable but there is a rationale behind the ugliest and shameful acts of naked vandalism by the misdirected Bangla youth.”

The Foundation said the government of India must issue a firm warning to Dhaka on the continuous violence against Hindus.

In the meanwhile, Indian Muslims for Secular Democracy (IMSD) has also condemned the attack on the life and property of Bangladeshi Hindus.  

"We call upon Muslim organizations and individuals in India to strongly condemn the targeting of minorities in our neighbouring country, a statement signed by 52 Muslims and a few non-Muslims.
