Shah Ammar Ahmad Ahmadi , Sajjad Nashin of the Ajmer dargah of Syed Moinuddin Chishty has alleged that the deobandi and Wahabbis are opposing the provisions of a Sufi shrine board within the purview of the proposed Waqf Board amendment bill  as a “conspiracy to weaken the spiritual aspect of the darhags.”

Shah Ammar Ahmadi is also Vice-President of the All India Ulama and Mushayikh Board and All India Sufi Sajjad Nashin Council and an eminent Sufi leader of India.

In a statement, he said these sects have given a representation to the JPC opposing the proposals for  Sufi Waqf Board. He said it is “part of an attempt to weaken the spiritual and historical character of the dargahs.”

Shah Ammar Ahmadi said although there is room for dissent in Islam and everyone has the right to express his opinions, provided these are within moral and Islamic boundaries. “Calling a person or institution a traitor on the basis of a difference of opinion is harmful to Islamic values and social harmony.”

He said that turning differences into personal enmity and baseless accusations is not only illegal but causes chaos in the society.

Shah Ammar Ahmadi lamented the role of the media in writing new that could fuel sectarianism.

Shah Ammar Ahmadi said that the Waqf Board has continuously violated the rights of the dargah and has tried to weaken their system by interfering unnecessarily in their financial and administrative affairs. He said that these policies promote the agenda of the Deobandi and Wahhabi movements, which are part of a conspiracy to destroy the spiritual and historical status of darhag.

Shah Ammar Ahmadi supported the establishment of Dargah Board and said that this initiative is very important to protect the rights and autonomy of these monasteries. He condemned those who interpreted this demand as treason and said that the establishment of the Dargah Board will improve the financial and administrative affairs of the dargah as well as guarantee the protection of their rights.

He also emphasized that the establishment of the Dargah Board is a unanimous demand of the priests and representatives of all monasteries, and it is their right.

In his speech, Shah Ammar Ahmadi called those people "the real traitors of the nation" who remained silent on the violation of the rights of monasteries in the past and today, when measures are being taken to protect the monastic system, they are unnecessarily criticizing.

He said that these are the same people who have always sought to weaken the monastic system and are still against the strengthening of this system.

Speaking about the Waqf Amendment Act, Shah Ammar Ahmadi refuted the impression that the All India Sufi Sajjad Nashin Council or monastic organizations fully supported the Act. He said that the support was given only under certain conditions and restrictions, and in the absence of these conditions, his position would be one of opposition rather than support.
