Captain Rohit Sharma has become the fourth Indian men’s batter and the tenth overall to surpass 11,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs) during the 2025 Champions Trophy Group A match against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday.
Rohit reached the 11,000-run milestone when he lofted Mustafizur Rahman over mid-on for four on the fifth ball of the fourth over. He now joins Indian greats Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Sourav Ganguly in the exclusive 11,000 ODI runs club.
Rohit is now the second-fastest men’s player to achieve the 11,000-run mark, completing the feat in 261 innings. Kohli holds the record, having reached the milestone in 222 innings. Rohit also ranks second in terms of balls faced, with 11,868 deliveries, behind Kohli’s 11,831 balls.
Tendulkar remains the highest run-scorer in ODIs with over 18,000 runs in 452 innings, while Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara sits in second with 14,234 runs.

Earlier in the match, pacer Mohammed Shami became the fastest Indian bowler to reach 200 ODI wickets, surpassing Ajit Agarkar’s record with 104 matches. Shami is now tied for second-quickest with former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, behind Australia’s Mitchell Starc.
In the same game, Virat Kohli completed 156 catches in men’s ODIs, equalling Mohammad Azharuddin’s record for most catches as a fielder for India. Mahela Jayawardene (218) and Ricky Ponting (160) are the only players to have taken more catches in ODIs.
