Thursday night's match between Portugal and Ghana at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar was not only special for the first-ever makeshift FIFA WC stadium but also for Christiano Ronaldo.
Portugal won the match by 3-2 and Ronaldo scripted history by scoring a goal in the 65th minute of the game. With this goal, he surpassed the likes of Pele, Diego Maradona and others to become the only player with goals in 5 different editions of the World Cup.

It is often said "Where there is Ronaldo there follows a heated argument or a controversy", which was true for Thursday night's match as well. In the first half, the goal secured by Ronaldo was declared a foul by the referee while the second-half penalty shot was refuted by Ghana's coach Otto Addo.

"The referee gave a penalty which was not a penalty. Everyone saw that. Why? Because it's Ronaldo or something?"

While veterans in the commentary box called for a VAR, the players on the field decided to oblige with the decision in both scenarios.
The first half was nil for both sides, it was the second half that was packed with action. In all 5 goals were scored.
The comeback by Ghana was commendable as Osman and Ayew were the men on the job. But Felix and Rafael made sure to make Portugal stand apart.
