Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the ICC T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team over breakfast at his residence on Thursday. The team, sporting special jerseys with two stars representing their World Cup wins, celebrated their victory before departing to Delhi airport for a grand victory parade in Mumbai.
A special cake featuring the T20 World Cup trophy was cut at ITC Maurya hotel. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Hardik Pandya participated in the cake-cutting.
India ended a 13-year ICC World Cup trophy drought by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final. Virat Kohli's 76, Hardik Pandya's 3/20, and Jasprit Bumrah's 2/18 were pivotal in the victory, with Bumrah earning 'Player of the Tournament' honors.
Star India batter Virat Kohli expressed his gratitude for the invitation to meet PM Modi. Taking to Instagram, he shared, "What a great honor meeting our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji today @narendramodi Thank you, sir, for inviting us to the prime minister's residence." Kohli played a crucial role in the final, anchoring the innings with a vital knock of 76.

The team, support staff, and media were briefly stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl but arrived in Delhi early Thursday morning on a flight organized by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.
Upon arrival in Mumbai, a grand victory parade organized by BCCI will be held at Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai Cricket Association Secretary Ajinkya Naik announced free entry for the public. Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik confirmed Mumbai-based players, including Captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, will meet Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde on Friday.
