Benazir of Rajasthan has become the first women in the Western Indian state to become a driver in police.
She belongs of Niradhanu village of Jhunjhunu district and has been selected as the driver of Churu police.
According to Churu Superintendent of Police, Narayan Togas, Benazir has passed the written and physical examination and is one of the 15 drivers selected for the post. She has cleared all the mandatory tests and the last formality related to the verification of her key documents.
This process will be completed on April 20.
It seems Benazir had earlier written her examination for police recruitment. She had even approached the court with her complaint about the faulty recruitment process. The court is yet to decide her case and here she has already been selected in the normal process.
Benazir’s selection for a job that is considered a prerogative of the men is sure to set an example for others. In fact Jhunjhunu district has a tradition of seeing Muslim women preferring jobs in armed forces.
