Prime Minister Narendra Modi gives his X handle to the Chess grandmaster Vaishali Ramesh. March 8 arrived with a wave of celebration, as social media lit up with tributes to women across the world. From Political leaders and sports stars, X became a platform for appreciation, advocacy, and empowerment under the trending hashtag #WomensDay.

Indian PM Modi also acknowledged the contribution of women in shaping the nation, tweeting: "Today, our nation can’t be ignored by the world. We are a promising market with an innovative spirit. And, this journey will get even stronger with women’s participation. I will urge all women to become a part of the India Story. A lot of women have shown how to break barriers and achieve this. My own experience says that the sky is the limit. Be self-reliant and give a better life to the future generations."

President Droupadi Murmu extended best wishes on International Women's Day, writing:

"Greetings to all on International Women's Day! Today, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of women. We also resolve to make concerted efforts to strengthen the cause of women’s rights, equality and empowerment. Our sisters and daughters are breaking glass ceilings and pushing boundaries. Let us pledge to support women in their journey, ensuring that no one is left behind as they carve new paths in various fields. Together, we can create a gender equal world where women and girls can pursue their dreams without fear.

Cricketing legend Mithali Raj shared a photo with young female cricketers, saying:

"To all the incredible women out there: Have you ever taken that first step and thought, ‘What now?’ Just like in cricket, it’s the small runs that lead to big scores. If a woman dreams it, she can turn the tables and rewrite the game on her own terms. Happy Women’s Day!"

Meanwhile, Gautam Adani, founder and Chairman of the Adani Group posted an inspiring message on X:

"Our family was honoured to host nine inspiring women ambassadors and high commissioners to India. I am grateful for their visit to Khavda’s Adani Renewable Energy Park & Mundra’s SEZ. Their praise and advice for the local women driving these projects were truly uplifting. On Int'l Women's Day, here’s to breaking barriers and shaping a better future!"
