The meeting occurred at Zero Point on the India-Bangladesh border on March 1 with the cordial cooperation of the members of the two border forces.

Four decades ago, Mahila and her family came to visit her relatives in Jagdal Hatpara village of Panchagarh Sadar upazila in Bangladesh.
A local matchmaker arranged Mahila and Nazmul. The two families could visit each other through the open border.
Before the barbed-wire fence was installed along the border, they could visit their relatives on both sides once or twice a year. However, after the fence was set up, Mahila Begum and her husband had to travel to India through official channels.
For the past two and a half years, Begum has been unable to visit her elderly parents as the Indian authorities have restricted tourist visas for Bangladeshis.
Nazmul Haque, said, "My wife was restless to see her parents. Although we both got passports, we couldn't get a visa.
"Later, we managed to meet this way by communicating with BGB officials over the phone. We only got 15 to 20 minutes there."
Someone recorded a video of their reunion and posted it on Facebook.
Commanding Officer of Panchagarh 18, BGB Battalion Lt Col Md Monirul Islam told the media in Bangladesh, "A joint retreat parade between BGB and BSF takes place at the zero line every Saturday and Tuesday. The two families had contacted each other over the phone beforehand to arrange the meeting."

Later, when they sought assistance from BGB, arrangements were made for them to meet after the parade. BSF also agreed and cooperated in making it happen, he added.
