In an incident of lawlessness in Bangladesh under the interim government led by Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus, several miscreants launched an ambush on an Air Force base in Cox's Bazar, located on the southeast coast of the country.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media division of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, confirmed that miscreants from Samity Para, an area adjacent to the Air Force base, carried out the attack. The Bangladesh Air Force has taken necessary action in response.
Local media reported that several individuals were injured during the clashes, which escalated when air force personnel fired several rounds at the protesters around 11:30 AM local time.
A local journalist noted that the incident occurred after the Deputy Commissioner instructed locals to vacate the Air Force area and relocate to the Khurushkul Housing Project.
The attack highlights the growing unrest in Bangladesh, which has been marred by unprecedented violence since the government led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted in August 2024.
Last week, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Mohammad Babul Mia was brutally beaten to death.
Top BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu accused the interim government, stating, "Under the interim government, workers and leaders of political parties have been killed. The culprits must be brought to justice without delay. Otherwise, dissatisfaction will grow among the people and political activists."

Earlier this month, violent clashes at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) left more than 100 students injured.
The situation has sparked massive outrage across Bangladesh, with many calling for Yunus to resign as violent incidents, including those targeting minorities, continue to rise.
