In what appears to be a point by point reply, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has written a letter to Narendra Modi reiterating his yearning for peace in the region and also raking up the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

The letter dated March 29 was made public through Islamabad-based newspapers on Tuesday.

The letter is a reply to Modi’s letter that he sent to Khan on Pakistan Day, March 26th.

Khan writes:

“I thank you for your letter conveying greetings on Pakistan Day. The people of Pakistan commemorate this Day by paying tribute to the wisdom and foresight of our founding fathers in envisioning an independent, sovereign state where they could live in freedom and realise their full potential."

He said people of Pakistan also desire peaceful, cooperative relations with all neighbours including India.

Khan said, "Durable peace and stability in South Asia is contingent upon resolving all outstanding issues between India and Pakistan, in particular the Jammu and Kashmir dispute."

In reply to Modi appreciating the people of Pakistan for their fight against COVID-19 pandemic, Khan gave a matching reply to the Indians.

He ended his letter with remarks: Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
