The Pakistani young man, identified as Mohammad Naveed, who fired at the former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Wazirabad, Punjab, on Thursday, claimed that he wanted to kill only Imran Khan.
In an admission on camera, the video clip of which was posted and widely shared on social media sites, the suspect said he wanted to kill only Imran Khan because he was “misleading the people of Pakistan.” He did not elaborate.
He said the trigger for him was the realization that at the time of aazan (muezzin's call for prayers); they (PTI workers on a long march) were playing loud music with DJs.
“I didn’t like this and decided to eliminate him.” “My target was only Imran Khan,” Naveed claimed.
The video of the 'confession' was shared by Pakistani journalists including hamid Mir on Twitter:

In what appears to be the questioning by the Police, the suspect says that he followed Khan’s container from Lahore on his motor bicycle.
However, a senior Journalist Moeed Pirzada alleged that the accused Mohammad Naveed was used to divert the attention from the real shooters who used automatic weapons:
Circumstantial Evidence & Eyewitness Accounts give reason to believe that alleged attacker/assassin, Mohd. Naveed s/o Bashir with pistol was only a diversion; real fire was from an automatic weapon, a fire cracker was also used for diversion. Attacker giving a scripted statement

He also claimed he was acting on his own and had no associates or an organization to back him.

Speaking in normal Urdu, he said he had dropped his moto bicycle at the workshop of his uncle and joined the long march.
