Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan, a renowned Islamic scholar and translator of the Quran in English languag, passed away at the age of 94 in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
Born in 1927 in Afghanistan, Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan was known in the Islamic world for translating the Quran and introducing it to a wider world.
His translation is popular in all countries and the translated version is called Noble Quran. He has also translated Bukhari Sharif, teachings of Prophet Mohammad, into English.
Dr. Mohsin Khan took the help of the famous Moroccan cleric Mohamed Taqi al-Din al-Hilali in the translation of the Quran.
The duo translated some parts jointly as well.

Khan obtained a degree in Medicine from Lahore University, Pakistan. He also worked in the same university hospital. Thereafter he went to the UK to do a diploma in chest disease from the University of Wales.
He worked for the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia for 15 years and was eventually appointed head of the Islamic University Clinic in Medina.

With his death, an era came to an end. There is a wave of mourning in the academic circles over his demise across the world.
