30 British Muslims were listed in the annual New Year's honours list of King Charles III. It is a part of British honours system where every year on January 1st eminent achiever's from different fields are honoured.

The Muslim Council for Britain congratulated all who have been named for 2023, especially those from the Muslim and minority ethnic communities.

Among those named include Asrar Ul-Haq DL. He was one of the first Asian police officers in Greater Manchester Police and spent his career in policing, building a positive relationship between marginalised communities and law enforcement. His work bringing together people from different faiths and backgrounds for a common good has earned him an Officer of Order of British Empire (OBE).

Jawahir Roble, from London, who grew up playing football in war-torn Mogadishu, and has also been awarded Members of the Order of British Empire (MBE) for services to football after becoming the first black, female, Muslim, hijab-wearing referee in the UK.

MCB affiliate "My Foster Family" CEO Shadhim Hussain recognized for his efforts in foster care.

Zara Mohammed, Secretary General of the MCB, said: “We congratulate all of those awarded by King Charles for this New Years Honour’s list. “It is great to see such excellent contributions to our society recognised, a real testament to the vital work faith communities continue to play in shaping our diverse Britain .”
