Why is Madan Tanwar of Nuh fasting during Ramzan?

Political and social activist Madan Tanwar of Mewat, Haryana, is keeping a fast on all Fridays during the holy month of Ramzan in solidarity with Muslims who observe Roza for all 30 days. He observed his first fast on Friday by not eating and drinking for more than 14 hours.
 
Tanwar, a resident of Nuh city of Mewat, told Awaz-the Voice that on Friday he ate curd at about 4.30 am and fasted for the day only to break the fast at 6.44 pm.
 
He broke the bread with local Muslims, who are keeping fast during the month. He prayed to the Almighty to give wisdom to the hate-mongers who are trying to sow the seeds of hatred.
 
Madan Tanwar said that the mutual brotherhood in the country is sought to be damaged by some people who are trying to divide people on the basis of religion and caste. His fast on Fridays In the month of Ramazan is aimed at sending out a message of unity and brotherhood.
 
He said he has decided to keep fast on all the Fridays of the Holy month.
 
Interestingly, on Friday, he was also keeping the fast for Goddess during the Navratri festival. Tanwar says that the Mewat area has been a symbol of Hindu-Muslim brotherhood for centuries. Here people of all religions celebrate each other’s festivals together. 
 
He said that by fasting she felt very light. 
 
Madan Tanwar belongs to the Hindu Dalit community in Nuh (Mewat), a Muslim-dominated district of Haryana. Madan Tanwar's wife Sarita Devi is the Municipal Councilor from ward number 8 of Nuh Municipality. He has been associated with the Congress Party for many years.
